By KTM Metro Reporter

March 29, 2011: Nepalese President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has opened a three-day seminar on ''Buddhism Practice and Pluralistic Innovation'' jointly held by the Center for Nepal and Asia Studies (CNAS) under Tribhuvan University of Nepal and Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in Kathmandu on Monday, March 28, 2011.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the seminar, President Yadav has said that Lord Buddha’s teachings are relevant to the current world for setting up sustainable peace elsewhere in the world.

The president has also said that Nepal is the birthplace of Lord Buddha whereas India is the birthplace of Buddhism; common religion and culture tie both Nepal and India together.

Buddhist monks, scholars and researchers from Nepal, Tibet, India, Thailand, South Korea, Myanmar, Japan, Sri Lanka and Bhutan are participating in the workshop-seminar. They are going to discuss the philosophy of Buddhism, its practices in the past and relevance of Buddhist philosophy to the modern world.
