Review Of Special Security Plan
BY KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
March 4, 2010: spokesman for the government has said that the government is reviewing the Special Security Plan in view of increasing criminal activities across the country. As soon as the new government headed by Madhav Nepal was set up, Home Minister Bhim Rawal had formulated a special security plan and the Madhav government had implemented it. Following the special security plan the government is supposed to recruit additional 16,000 police costing more than a billion rupee to the treasury.
Some expert analysts say that Home Minister Bhim Rawal’ special security plan is for making money, as the concerned officials acquiring police uniforms and other gears could make millions of rupees from the commissions they receive from such purchases.
The security situation has deteriorated since Bhim Rawal became the Home Minister. He has been responsible for killing a number of innocent people confronting with the armed police in Ataria in western Nepal when the landless people clashed with the armed people. His police have not been able to arrest the killers of Jamin Shah and Arun Shinghaniya.
Businesspersons have demanded the government headed by Prime Minister Madhav Nepal either safeguard their lives and property or let them have their own security arrangement, as they have been suffering from the extortion and threats from the criminal gangs and political gangs.
After Madhav Nepal became the Prime Minister, the criminal activities have increased in Nepal, as the government instead of controlling unauthorized arms have been actually encouraging the youths affiliated to their political parties to possess arms. So, most of the lethal weapons have been passed on to the criminal gangs. Thus, Madhav Nepal has been pushing the country to anarchism and ultimately to a failed state.
