Prachanda Elected to Prime Minister Second Time

Kathmandu, August 3, 2016: Toady at 3:45 PM Chairman of CPN-Maoist-Center Prachanda got elected to the prime minister of Nepal for the second time.

 

Prachanda received 363 votes out of the 373 votes cast. CPN-UML lawmakers and other lawmakers belonging to small parties cast no votes. NC lawmakers and Madheshi lawmakers en mass supported him.

 

Prachanda was elected as the first prime minter of Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal in 2008 with the overwhelmingly votes but he quit the office in 2009 after the then president stopped him from firing the then Chief of Army Staff Katumangad Katuwal.
