Muslim Community Leader Shot Dead In Kathmandu

September 27, 2011: two unidentified gunmen passed as pedestrians shot dead General Secretary to the Nepal Muslim Association Phaijan Ahamad Phalahi, 41, while walking on the way to home after completing afternoon prayer at the mosque in Kathmandu yesterday at 1:45 p.m.
He was rushed to the nearby Bir Hospital but the doctors found him dead on arrival at the hospital. Relatives and friends brought his body to the street where the mosque stands and blocked the traffic causing terrible traffic jam in the heart of the Kathmandu Metropolitan city for more than five hours.
The relatives of the dead man have demanded the government to declare him the martyr and take care the welfare of his family members and children. Deputy Prime Minister holding the portfolio of Home Bijya Gacchedar visited the area and assured the relatives and friends that have blocked the streets of taking strong actions against the assailants and of taking the proposal for declaring him a martyr and for funding the welfare of his family members.
In the past, assailants had killed the owner of the company called Space Time Network, and other two Muslims in the daylight in the similar circumstances. Local media had reported that they had been cooperating with the foreign nation on supporting the activities that go against the interest of the neighboring country for which they had paid the high prices.
