Quit Government for Avoiding Conflict

Issue 21, May 24, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On May 22, 2009, addressing the parliament, Caretaker Prime Minister Prachanda has said that he quit the position of Prime Minister as he saw the possibility of the Presidential rule in Nepal and the conflict again, as the President has overstepped the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007 directly writing a letter to the Chief of Army Staff, and he might use the army to suppress the opposition. So, he avoided such an undesirable situation quitting the government.

He also has charged the leaders of the political parties that have supported his actions of taking the explanation from the Chief of Army Staff but later on went against it and even went to the President to overturn the government’s decision on firing the Chief of Army Staff.

He also charged the political parties currently engaged in the dirty political game of buying and selling of the parliamentarians for garnering the majority in the parliament for electing a Prime Minister.
