Chief Justice Taking Office

March 29, 2010: Senior justice Ram Prasad Shrestha has taken the oath of office of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nepal from President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav on Sunday, March 28, 2010. After taking the office of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nepal, speaking to the reporters, Chief Justice has said that he is for ending the corruption at the law courts and reducing the delay in delivering the justice to the people making the judiciary competent and independent. Chief Justice Shrestha has said that the corruption at the courts will reduce by 50% if the judges of the districts courts and appellate courts work sincerely.

The Constitutional Council has recommended Ram Prasad Shrestha for the position of the Chief Justice and then the Legislative Special Inquiry Committee has endorsed him and then the President has appointed him to the Chief Justice.

Justice Ram Prasad Shrestha has had a clean judicial career and has been the impartial justice, and has performed his duties without fear and external influences while serving at the district and appellate courts and then at the Supreme Court of Nepal.
