October 6, 2012: in response to the requests of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), different human rights organizations, and right activists, Ghale's 83-year-old grandfather Dhan Bahadur Ghale, 13-year-old daughter Jharana Ghale and his relatives for saving his life, Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has written a letter to Malaysian counterpart Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak requesting clemency to the Nepalese migrant worker Hari Bahadur Ghale sentenced to death in Malaysia, writes nepalnews.com.

The Malaysian Supreme Court had convicted him of possessing narcotic drug in 2003, and awarded him a death sentence two weeks ago. He had been in the Malaysian prison since he was arrested by the Malaysian police at the hotel he was staying before returning to Nepal after three-year work there. Ghale denied that the bag containing the drug was his but of his friend that had been absconding since then.
