December 13, 2013: after the elections to CA, and in the changed political contest, a meeting of the High Level Political Committee (HLPC) was held at the Peace Fund Secretariat, Babarmahal on December 11, 2013. Leaders of the political parties expressed the political views in the current political scenario to find a common ground to resolve the current political problems through a consensus among all the political parties.
The UCPN-Maoist and some other parties made a stand for investigating the flaws in the elections held in November before holding the first meeting of the CA while NC and CPN-UML took a stand against it and preferred to discuss the matter in the sovereign CA.
Emerging from the meeting, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda said that his party was not for boycotting the CA and the peace process but concerned with the irregularities in the CA elections. Chairman Prachanda said that the political parties have begun talks about the post election scenario and expressed his confidence in reaching some understanding by the next meeting.
