Extending Deadline For Forming A Unity Government

December 7, 2012: leaders of political parties such as UCPN-Maoist, NC and CPN-UML at the three-party meeting held at the Special Committee Secretariat in New Baneshwar decided to request the president for extending the deadline for forming a consensus government once again.

After meeting with the president today, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda told the reporters that he came to the president to request for extending the deadline for the political leaders to reach a consensus on a new government, as the president told the political leaders, no need of coming all leaders; one is enough; so he came to the president to brief the president about the progress political leaders have made in reaching a national consensus, and asking for deadline for another five to seven days. 

President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav in turn today extended the deadline for parties to reach an agreement on a common candidate for a new prime minister for six days making it valid through Wednesday, December 12, 2012.
