Opposition’s Wishes Of Toppling Government Through Streets Protests

September 26, 2012: speaking to the reporters at Biratnagar today, Minister for Health Rajendra Mahato said that if the president (head of state) were to involve in changing the current government then the president would put his office at risk, as Mahato’s Sadbhavana party would launch street protests against the president. Minister Mahato also told the reporters that the opposition would not be able to topple the government; it was the wishful thinking of the opposition leaders, and they would be wasting their time and energy launching the street protests in the hope of toppling the current government, according to ‘THT ONLINE’.
Minister Mahato disagreed on the opposition’s attempt on dislodging the government from the streets in a democratic system of governance. The only way to change a government is elections. The opposition is afraid of going to people for asking the people’s mandate, as they have done nothing for the people but they have done everything to collect money from the people.
Minister Mahato also said that the current government would not quit the office until the opposition could build a consensus on various contentious issues concerning a new constitution and federalism. However, Minister Mahato said that the government would give the way to the opposition to form a new government if the opposition leaders agree on all contentious issues.
Speaking to his party cadres’ meeting at the Sunsari district headquarters today afternoon, Senior leader of NC Sher Bahadur Deuba told his party cadres to be prepared for launching street protests against the Bhattarai-led government for the national independence, as the incumbent government preparing to impose a despotic rule sideling other political parties, writes ‘thehimalayantimes.com.’
The meeting of the three large opposition parties such as NC, CPN-UML, and CPN-Maoist held at the Balkhu headquarters of the CPN-UML today has decided to greet Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai with black flags at any official programs he attends, and launch stringent protests to unseat him after Dashain. Speaking after the meeting, Vice Chairman of NC Ram Chandra Poudel said, “Since the incumbent government is the reason behind the current political stalemate, corruption and political imbroglio, pushing the country into the verge of disintegration, the meeting has decided to unseat the Prime Minster as soon as possible,” writes ‘The Himalayan Times.’
Talking to the reporters upon arrival at the International Airport from India today, Chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal said that his party was opened to any party leading a consensus government. He said, "Earlier we had wished that the NC assume the leadership but it has not been able to play an effective role towards that end." Stating that a national consensus government was the first prerequisite for resolving the present crisis, he made it clear that the Government could be formed under the leadership of any party, writes ‘thehimalayantimes.com.
Speaking at an interaction held by the Sambad Club in Kathmandu today, Minister for Irrigation Mahendra Prasad Yadav said that the government would not quit the office immediately, and the government would continue until the new Constituent Assembly (CA) elections were declared and condition for the national consensus government was ensured, according to RSS/thehimalayantimes.com.
Speaking at an interaction held at the Reporters Club in Kathmandu yesterday, Vice-chairman of CPN-Maoist CP Gajurel said that Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai-led government would crumble within a month.
