Finance Ministry Not To Refund PM's Expenditures

Issue 11, March 14, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

March 12, 2010: in absence of proper bills and expenditure account, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) has refused to reimburse Rs 10 million to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has spent on attending the Climate-Change Summit held in Copenhagen, Denmark in December 2009 according to the news report posted on the Myrepublica.com.

The MoF has refused to pay Rs 10 millions simply based on the estimated expenditures the MoFA has submitted. The MoF has demanded the detailed expenditure account from the MoFA.

Brushing off the widespread criticism in the press, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal had included his relatives and friends on his entourage to attend the UN-sponsored Climate-Change Summit held in Copenhagen, Denmark. Madhav Nepal defeated by voters at the polls in two constituencies is certainly not accountable to the people. So, he could do such an irresponsible thing and remain in the office shamelessly.
