In a statement released in Kathmandu today, spokesperson for CPN-Maoist Pampha Bhushal said that the Bhattarai-led government had raised the prices of petroleum products and other essentials over a dozen times during his one-year term. They also stopped the traffic for a half hour in Itahari Main Chowk demanding the resignation of the prime minister, according to ‘The Himalayan Times.’

Stating to offset the increasing losses of the company, Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has increased the prices of petroleum products effective on Monday, September 3, 2012; consequently, price of petrol has gone up to Rs 125 per liter, kerosene to Rs 97 per liter, LPG to Rs 1,470 per cylinder, and aviation fuel to Rs 120,69 per liter.

At the same time, NOC has asked the government to provide Rs 3 billion otherwise the company would not able to supply petroleum products smoothly, as it might not be able to pay the dues to the Indian Oil Corporation; then the Indian company would stop supplying the petroleum products.
