G20 Economic Summit In Toronto Of Canada

Issue 27, July 04, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter

June 28, 2010: leaders of the G20 have met together in Toronto to discuss the sustainability of the global economic recovery. The G 20 includes G8 nations such as the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Canada and Russia, and then newly industrializing countries such as Brazil, China, Indonesia, Mexico, Argentina, Australia, India, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey and the European Union.

The G20 leaders say that the economic recovery has been fragile with unemployment in many countries at undesirable levels; so, the group has felt the need for reforming financial institutions.

At the same time, protesting the G8/G20 summits in Toronto, some protestors have smashed storefronts and torched two police patrol cars on June 26, 2010.  The police have arrested at least 130 people.
