Demanding Revoking The Agreement On Mandatory Visit To Dharaha
By KTM Metro Reporter
April 25, 2013: locals of the Basantapur area had protested the agreement the three parties such as Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Hanumadhoka Palace Museum Development Board and the private Sidewalk Company on forcing the tourists making mandatory payment for climbing the Dharaha, according to ‘gorkhapatra’ news of today.
The agreement has clearly indicated that Kathmandu Metropolitan City, and Hanumadhoka Palace Museum Development Board have acted in the interest of the private company certainly to have the share in the profit the private company makes from the tourists making mandatory payment for climbing the Dharahara.
Locals needed to expose the shameless Kathmandu Metropolitan City, and Hanumadhoka Palace Museum Development Board officials for their corrupt actions, and bring this issue to the notice of the law court or to the notice of the Commission on Investigation into Abuse of Authority, and to bring the officials engaged in such criminal act to justice.
Kathmandu Metropolitan City has been charging Rs 750 to every tourist visiting the Hanumandhoka Area. Now, Kathmandu Metropolitan City wants to add Rs 250 to it for visiting Dharahara. This will bring Rs 25 million per year to the Sidewalk Company if 100,000 tourists visiting Kathmandu were to pay additional Rs 250. Kathmandu Metropolitan City officials could have some portion of it for agreeing on forcing the tourists to pay additional Rs 250 for climbing the Dharahar.
