Transfer Of Non-revenue To Revenue Heading

July 12, 2011: Deputy Prime Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari holding the portfolio of Finance Minister has ordered the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank for transferring Rs 1.84 billion from the non-revenue heading to the revenue heading to show the rise in revenue collection in order to meet his target of revenue collection.
After the widespread outcry of such transfer of the money from the non-revenue heading to the revenue heading is a crime, Mr. Adhikari has ordered the governor to correct the mistake.
This is not the first time Mr. Adhikari has attempted to cook the data. He did cook data during his tenure as the Minister of Finance in the cabinet of Manamohan Adhikari during the nine-moth reign of the CPN-UML in the mid 1990s to show the better performances of the then government.
