Bomb Went Off Nearby Vice-president’s Residence

Issue 35, August 30, 2009

BY KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On August 28, 2009, at about 7:20 P.M. a bomb went off nearby the residence of Vice-president Permananda Jha at Gaurighat, Kathmandu. Some splinters have hit the glass window of the house next to the Vice-president’s and have injured a woman there.

All the political leaders have condemned such cowardly acts of some terrorists.

Vice-president has been embroiled in the oath he has taken in Hindi on July 23, 2008. On August 23, 2009, the Supreme Court of Nepal has ordered him to take an oath in Nepali again but he has not complied with it, yet.

The Madhehi students and some political cadres have taken the issue of oath in Hindi to streets. They have set fire on the document that contained the ruling of the Supreme Court of Nepal on the oath the Vice-president has taken.

Some Madheshi leaders have urged him to resign from the position rather than taking an oath in Nepali whereas other leaders including some Madheshi have urged him to comply with the order of the Supreme Court of Nepal.
