Two NC Candidates for A Single Office
By KTM Metro Reporter
August 17, 2011: the Central Working Committee of the NC has decided two candidates for a single office of prime minister. Senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba is a candidate for a consensus government, and NC Parliamentary Leader Ram Chandra Poudel is a candidate for a majority government.
Supporters of Deuba wanted to take up a no-confidence vote against Poudel and then elect Deuba a parliamentary party leader paving the way for Deuba to take the office of prime minister but the supporters stop short of tabling the no-confidence vote because of the technical problem. The parliamentary party of NC will take up the no-confidence vote only after 15 days following the NC statute. Deuba has no time for waiting so long. So, Deuba has agreed on compromise on two candidates for a single office.
