Completing Ninety-percent Road-widening In Kathmandu Valley This Fiscal Year

April 16, 2013: speaking to the anchor of the Radio Nepal morning program called ‘antar-sambad’ today, Secretary Krishna Hari Banskota said that 90% of the road-widening in the Kathmandu Valley would be completed in this fiscal year. Secretary Banskota is the coordinator of the widening Roads in the Kathmandu Valley.

 

The delay in finishing the widen roads have been due to the need for shifting the electricity poles, laying sewerage pipes, and removing some structures. To expedite the shifting of the electric poles, and laying sewerage and drainage pipes, a modern techniques have been used, said the secretary.

 

Three months more are left to work in this fiscal year; these three months are the most favorable months for working; most of the blacking topping would be done in these months; money would not be available at least for 2-3 months in the next fiscal year, said Secretary Banskota.

 

National vigilant Center is to check the quality of the black-topping done by the contractors following the complains; the quality of road construction has been satisfactory; dust and smoke caused by the widening of the roads would be soon done away; the chairman of IECM has instructed to give the top priority to complete the construction of the roads mostly used by the tourists, and main roads, said Secretary Banskota.
