Publication Of Election Schedule

August 2, 2013: the Election Commission (EC) published the election schedule yesterday.
According to the election schedule published in the State-run newspaper ‘gorkhapatra’ today, political parties need to file their nominations for the proportional representation on September 23 between 10:00 am to 5:00 pm; then the EC will published the list of the political parties that have filed the nominations on September 24; then September 25 is the day for the political parties withdrawing their nominations; the EC will publish the final list of the political parties for the proportional representation on September 26; then September 27 is the day for the political parties to submit the sealed list of the names of the candidate for the proportional representation; the EC will inform the political parties that they can make an amendment to the sealed lists from September 28 to October 4; the political parties may amend their sealed lists and submit to the lists to the EC from October 5 to 11; the EC will make public the sealed list of candidates on October 17. From October 18 to 24 are the days for contesting the eligibility of the candidates; from October 25 to 31, the EC will check the complaints about the eligibility of the candidates; the EC will publish the list of the candidates removed from the sealed list on November 1. From November 2 to 8, candidates may withdraw their names from the sealed list. The EC will inform the political parties on the withdrawal of names of the candidates on November 9, and on the same day, the EC will publish the final list of the candidates on the sealed list, and the elections will be held on November 19.
For the direct election, candidates need to file their nominations at the District Election Office (DEC) at the district headquarters on September 26. The DEC will open at 10:00 and close at 5:00 pm. The EC will publish the list of candidates on September 27. Anybody may lodge complaint about the candidates on September 28. The EC will check the complaints about candidates on September 29. The EC will publish the list of candidates on September 30. October 1 and 2 are the days for the candidates to withdraw their names. The EC will publish the final list of candidates on October 3. The EC will give the election symbols to the candidates on October 4.
Elections will be held on November 19 from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.
