Marking International Human Rights Day In Nepal

December 10, 2010: National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has held a rally at Tundikhel in Kathmandu today for marking the 62nd International Human Rights Day, and the participants in the rally gathered at Basantapur and then have gone around the town displaying the placards before assembling at Tundikhel.

Speaking at the rally, Chairman of NHRC Kedar Nath Upadhaya has said that completion of the peace process and promulgation of a new constitution are the prerequisites for ensuring human rights in Nepal. He has also emphasized the need for the state ending the impunity, and also all forms of gender-based and caste-based discrimination

Every year December 10 is marked as the International Human Rights Day and is celebrated with different slogans. This year’s slogan is "Speak Up, Stop Discrimination”.
