Controversy Over Army Integration

Issue 04, January 24, 2010

BY KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On January 20, 2010, after the cabinet meeting speaking to the reporters, spokesman for the government has said that the government is committed to complete the peace process rationally following the Comprehensive Peace Accord and the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007 refuting the Defense Minister.

Holding a press conference at her Ministry, Defense Minister Bidhya Bhandari has said that her ministry would not follow the decision of the Army Integration Special Committee (AISC) on the integration of Maoist combatants into the Nepal Army at any cost. The Prime Minister Madhav Nepal presides over the AISC, and has agreed to integrate the Maoist combatants into the Nepal Army.

In this case either Defense Minister or the Prime Minister needs to quit the cabinet, as he could not manage his Defense Minister. Both of these flunky ministers have been speaking the languages of their foreign masters according to the UCPN-Maoist Chairman Prachanda.
