Everest Sugar Mill Runs Again

December 30, 2013: the Everest Sugar and Chemical Industry resumed productions in Ramnagar of the Mahottari district yesterday after the sugarcane farmers and the industry owners agreed on settling the dispute over the price of sugarcane, according to the RSS news on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com.’

 

The factory has been closed for more than one and a half months due to the dispute over sugarcane price, the factory management has agreed to set the price of sugarcane by February 12, 2014 following the settlement of the dispute.

 

Chairman of Association of Sugarcane Farmers Naresh Singh Kushbaha said that the sugarcane farmers and the industry have started work on maintaining zero price and added that the sugarcane farmers would be paid by February 12 after setting the price.

 

The sugarcane farmers had launched a movement demanding Rs. 650 per quintal of sugarcane this year. They have been in the movement for one and a half months.
