Voices Against Providing VVIPs With benefits
By KTM Metro Reporter
July 26, 2012: one irrational advocate and a number of retired government officials have voiced against the government providing VVIPs with benefits after retirement. These guys should know that the state employees receive slightly less than their last salaries as pensions after retirement from their jobs for the rest of their lives.
If the government does not provide VVIPs with certain benefits for the rest of their lives, on what means they would live on after retirement, the advocate and civil society leaders should know.
If the government does not take care of the VVIPs after retirement then only the corruption during the tenure of their term of office would be an alternative for them to amass wealth for living the rest of their lives. Hopefully, providing the VVIPS with benefits would certainly lead to less corruption. Then, the campaign against corruption could be made more effective than now and ask for severe punishment for even minor corruption.
Rather than letting the corrupt VVIPs go with impunity, providing the sincere VVIPs with better benefits for their smooth lives after retirement would be more pragmatic for curbing the endemic corruption inherited from the previous regime.
At the same time, some leaders have returned the vehicles to the state they have been using. Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda, Vice-president of NC Ram Chandra Poudel, and Senior Leader of CPN-UML Madhav Nepal returned the vehicles to the state.
