Providing Relief To Victims Of Flash Flood In Seti River

Issue 20, May 13, 2012

By KTM Metro Reporter

May 6, 2012: Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai today has announced a relief package to be provided to the victims of the flash flood in the Seti River causing death of 15 people, missing of several people, and damaging the properties on either side of the bank of the Seti River in the Kaski district on Saturday.

Following the relief package Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai has announced, families of each person died in the flood will receive Rs 100,000, flood-affected families will receive Rs 25,000 each for immediate relief, and the government will foot the medical bills of the injured in the flood according to the news posted on the nepalnews.com

Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda and Prime Minister Bhattarai inspected the flood-damaged areas and met the flood-affected people in the Kaski district despite their heavy schedules of managing a new consensual cabinet sworn-in yesterday night.

The search and rescue operation has been going on for finding the people missing in the flood in the Seti River. Unlike the previously reported flash flood caused by the avalanche in Annapurna mountain range, the Nepal Army has found out that the sudden burst of the dam formed by the landslide on the river has caused the flash flood; all the water has been drained and no more flood, and people can return to their home for safe living.

Up until today morning, the search and rescue team has not been successful to find out anyone of the people including three Russian tourists went missing during the flood according to the nepalnews.com.
