Not Reaching Subsidized wheat Seeds To Farmers
By KTM Metro Reporter
December 5, 2013: the target of providing farmers with subsidized hybrid wheat seeds was 1,800 metric tons of seeds in the Rautahut district but only 260 metric tons have reached the dealers in the district, thus, creating a serious problem in the seed distribution, according to the RSS news on the ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’.
Problems have cropped up in the distribution of subsidized hybrid wheat seeds in the district after some 27 dealers arbitrarily distributed the seeds without meeting the criteria set by the District Agriculture Development Office (DADO).
Locals complained that the embezzlement has been in the distribution of wheat seeds after the government provided 35 per cent subsidy. However, Chief of DADO Raj Narayan Yadav said that the subsidized seeds were distributed through the different dealers in the district.
Though the office has provided 1,300 coupons to the farmers, they have not got the seeds and some coupons don’t have authorized signature too, farmers complained. The farmers are protesting against the office employees and their activities.
