Issue 29, July 21, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

July 17, 2013: speaking at a news conference held by the Madhesi Journalists' Society in Kathmandu yesterday, Chairman of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF)-Nepal Upendra Yadav has said that the country has been pushed to the regression by the 'sloppy' working style of the incumbent government, according to the news posted on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com.’

The MJF-Nepal Chairman blamed that the government has tried to prove that it is above the control of the High-Level Political Mechanism by making decisions that have long-term national impact on some issues.

Chairman Yadav suggested that the goal, objective, rules and the procedure should be determined before the roundtable conference is held to resolve the current political problem of the country.

Chairman Yadav said that the Election Commission collected biometric voters' list by adopting faulty and undemocratic norms and values. He claimed that more than three million people in the country could not register their name on the biometric voters' list due to the EC's undemocratic character, according to the RSS news on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com.’

The ‘gorkhapatra’ of today has reported that 3.2 citizens have been denied voters’ identity cards because of the biometric requirement on the cards.

Talking to journalists after making an inspection of the building construction site of the Music College Foundation at Itahari-2 of Sunsari district yesterday, Vice-chairman of CPN-Maoist CP Gajurel said that the Constituent Assembly elections could be held only by the government of all political parties formed after a round table conference by scrapping the 25-point ordinance and 11-point agreement, according to the news on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com.’ The elections if the current government holds will be nothing but a drama, said Gajurel.

Leaders of the four-party political mechanism have been preparing to invite the CPN-Maoist leaders to the talks. Chairman of CPN-Maoist Mohan Vaidhya has complained that he has not heard anything from the government and the four parties even after so many days of setting up a talk team by his party.
