Strange Happenings At Hearing On A Case

June 22, 2011: the bench of justices of the Supreme Court of Nepal Tahir Ali Ansari and Sushila Karki have held the hearing on the writ-petition of habeas corpus filed by Govinda Bahadur Batala’s wife Sunita Gautam, and ordered the police to release Batala stating the police cannot arrest the man twice in the same case. The police have arrested Govinda Bahadur Batala, a brigade commander of Maoist People’s Liberation Army again for the abduction of Ram Hari Shrestha on June 20, 2011 when Batala has walked out of the jail after completing the three-year jail term for involvement in killing Ram Hari Shrestha.
Yesterday, a group of lawyers led by President of Nepal Bar Association Prembahadur Khadka has met with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nepal complaining the bench of justices of the Supreme Court of Nepal Tahir Ali Ansari and Sushila Karki have refused to hear to the attorneys presented by Ramila Shrestha representing the victim Ram Hari Shrestha; the Chief Justice has assured the lawyers of finding out the reasons for not hearing the attorneys presented by Ramila Shrestha, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.
