Non-refugees Tibetan to be deported from Nepal
By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
The coalition government of six parties in Nepal has been serious to stop the ongoing protest in Kathmandu against the Chinese occupation of Tibet. The protest by Tibetans at the Chinese embassy in Nepal has started since March 12, 2008 when Tibetans in Nepal stage a protest commemorating the failed uprising of Tibetans against the Chinese Rule in Tibet in 1959 causing the fled of Tibetan Religious Ruler Dalai Lama to India.
On Thursday, September 11, 2008, the Ministry of Home spokesperson said that the government would investigate the status of Tibetan exiles in Kathmandu and if found anybody living illegally would be sent back to the country of origin; the government would not allow anybody in Nepal to protest against a friendly neighboring country.
The practice of the government so far has been to arrest the protesting Tibetans and then releases them in the evening only to find them next day again protesting against the Chinese rule in Tibet at the Chinese embassy in Nepal. This time, the coalition government has not released them but kept them in detention obviously taking strong actions against them. The Immigration Office has been checking their status of staying in Nepal.
