CPN-Maoist Submits Memo With 70-point Demand To Prime Minister

September 10, 2012: General Secretary of CPN-Maoist CP Gajurel submitted a memo with 70-point demand to Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai at the office of the prime minister today. Briefly talking to the prime minister, General Secretary Gajurel said that the memo contains the demands that concern the common folks, he reminds the prime minister. Gajurel said that the 40-point in the demands were the previous demands Dr Baburam Bhattarai submitted to the then government led by Sher Bahadur Deuba before launching the decade long Maoist insurgency. Gajurel also said that during the one-year tenure of the prime minister the prices of petroleum products have increased five times causing tremendous sufferings to the common folks. Gajurel said that he anticipated the government would meet the demands without delay.
Prime Minster Dr. Baburam Bhattarai in turn said that the party had been in power after meeting the 40-point demand; and the government would try to meet other demands as much as it can. However, certain demands are beyond the control of the government.
General Secretary CP Gajurel led a march of the CPN-Maoist cadres from Tundikhel to the State Secretariat building Singhdurbar.
