Arresting Eleven Officials Including Two Chinese Involved In Corruption

August 5, 2013: Commission on Investigation into Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has taken nine officials of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), and two Chinese belonging to the Hue Weng Sunlight Company that had supplied low quality transformers to the NEA, according to the news in ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.

 

CIAA had sent its officials to Hetauda, Biratnagar, Nepalgunjg and Kathmandu offices of NEA to take the officials involved in buying low quality transformers from the Chinese company in custody simultaneously.

 

The arrested officials are nine high level officials including one Director General of NEA. CIAA presented all the arrested officials to the Special Court for keeping for 10 more days in custody for further investigation into the corruption they have been involved in purchasing low quality transformers.

 

According to spokesman for ICAA Shreedhar Sapkota, CIAA conducted investigation into the corruption in purchasing transformers following the complaints lodged at the CIAA, and CIAA will file a case against the culprits after the full investigation into the case.
