Appointing A New Dean Of TUTH Under Pressure

Issue 34, August 19, 2012

By KTM Metro Reporter

August 18, 2012: after medical doctors working at private hospitals and the state-owned hospitals across Nepal have risen up for meeting the demand put forward by Prof Dr Govinda KC for appointing a new dean to the state-owned Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) based on merits, Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai instructed the Minister for Education to immediately meet the demand of Prof. Govinda KC to stop him from fast-unto-death.

According to thehimalayantimes.com news, Prof Dr Govinda KC broke his fast-unto-death drinking a glass of juice from the hand of 15-year-old Prithvi BK: one of his patients at 4 pm this afternoon after the TUTH appointed Prof Dr Prakash Sayami the new dean of Institute of Medicine (IoM). Prof KC thanked all supporters for the cause, and expressed his hope that from now on appointments at other institutions will also be done apolitically based on only merits.
