Issue 36, September 8, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

September 7, 2013: Department of Revenue Investigation has raided the Legal Advisory Firm run by senior advocate Sambhu Thapa at Putalisadak in Kathmandu yesterday on the suspicion of evading taxes causing leakage of revenue, according to the news in ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.

Sambhu Thapa is the former chairman of Nepal Bar Association. At the time of raid on his firm, Thapa was in the Bar hall of the Supreme Court of Nepal. His staffs have rough talks with the raiders.

In hearing his firm was raided, Thapa rushed to his office only to receive a letter from the Department of Revenue Investigation, and accept the receipt of the laptop, and documents relating to the taxes taken by the staffs of the Department of Revenue Investigation.

Advocate Thapa has said that the government is taking revenge on him, as he has been supporting the 33-party front led by the CPN-Maoist going against the elections to a new constituent assembly.
