Celebrating Anniversary Of People’s Liberation Army Day

February 15, 2010: Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda has opened a week long National Game Championship held by the Sports Club of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) as part of celebrating the 15th anniversary of the formation of the People’s Liberation Army Day at Dashrath Stadium in Kathmandu on Saturday, February 13, 2010. Addressing the opening ceremony of the National Game Championship, Chairman Prachanda has said that the current government has deliberately stopped Nepal Police and Nepal Army from participating in the National Game Championship.

Senior Maoist leaders, PLA commanders and National Sports Council officials have attended the opening ceremony of celebrating the anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army Day at Dashrath Stadium. The Sports Club of the People's Liberation Army has held various cultural programs and march-pass during the opening function.

The then breakaway Communist Party of Nepal launched the people’s war on February 13, 1996 with the aim to setting up a people’s republic. The UCPN-Maoist has been celebrating Feb 13 as the anniversary of the PLA day.
