Finance Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai on Corruption

Issue 46, November 16, 2008

BY KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On November 10, 2008, Finance Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai correctly identified the people involved in the network of corruption. He said that the network of the political leaders, civil servants and taxpayers had made impossible to plug the revenue leak in the country.

Speaking at an event held by the Department of Revenue Investigation in Kathmandu, Finance Minister Dr. Bhattarai said, “The time has come for the political parties, bureaucrats and taxpayers to stop the past activities and start afresh. Today’s scenario has changed, and the new direction must start at the political level itself. Unless political representatives stop corruption at their level, revenue leakage will never end,” wrote THT online.
