Chairman Prachanda Complains About Not Receiving Noble Peace Prize

Issue 22, June 2, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

May 29, 2013: Speaking at his party’s mass rally at Nuwakot’s Battar yesterday, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda said that the international community failed to appreciate his contribution to the political and social change and the peace process in Nepal not awarding him a Nobel Peace Prize. Chairman Prachanda said that if a revolution of the Nepalese magnitude had happened in a European country, Nobel Prize for peace would have been awarded. “We are deprived of right honor simply because of being Nepali,” Chairman Prachanda complained, according to ‘HIMALAYAN NEWS SERVICE’.

Chairman Prachanda needs to understand that the peace process will complete only when the perpetrators of the human rights violence will be brought to justice but Chairman Prachanda has been doing nothing to bring the criminals to justice rather he has been trying to cover them up bringing the Commission on Truth and Reconciliation Ordinance for pardoning the perpetrators of human rights violence rather than bringing them to justice. Prachanda needs to turn over the convicted criminals holding high positions in his party to the police so that they will serve the jail term as awarded by the law court. Then, his complaint about not receiving Nobel Peace Prize will be justified

Concerning the political change, Chairman Prachanda needs to demonstrate the world that Nepal has a most inclusive federal democratic republican constitution but Prachanda has been telling almost every day that a date for elections to a second CA will be set in the next two days. Next two days have come and gone several times but no date for elections to be held for a new CA has been set, yet.

Where are the enforced disappeared people by the State and by the CPN-Maoist during the Peoples’ Liberation War? Prachanda needs to work on a separate commission on the enforced disappearances but it is combined with the commission on truth and reconciliation especially for pardoning the perpetrators of human rights violence rather than finding out the whereabouts of the enforced disappeared people, and compensating the families and loved ones of the victims of the enforced disappearances. Prachanda needs to do many things before he can claim for Noble Peace Prize.
