Bonded Female Laborers Continue Serving The Elites

June 13, 2011: in a surprise check done by Freed Kamalari Development Forum (FKDF) and Nepal National Society Welfare Association (NNSWA), they have found bonded female laborers called Kamalari still serving at the homes of elites in Mahendranagar Town of Far Western Nepal, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.
The law prohibits keeping Kamalaris but if somebody does it then s/he is liable to the punishment of one-year jail term and a fine of Rs 50,000. However, we need to watch and see how the government of a New Nepal will enforce the law. The defaulters of the law are local elites.
