All-party Meeting At Presidential Residence Today

Issue 37, September 15, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

September 13, 2013: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has called an all-party meeting at his residence today. All parties including the CPN-Maoist are going to attend the meeting. Previously, the CPN-Maoist boycotted a similar meeting called by the Chairman of Interim Election Council of Ministers.

According to the official at the presidential office, President Dr Yadav is not going to dictate anything to anybody but he will act as a facilitator for bringing on board all political parties to the elections to a new constituent assembly.

The constitutional president is bringing all political leaders face-to-face each other, and then letting them talk to each other directly in his presence to sort out any problems they have, according to the official at the presidential office. The president wants all political parties take part in the elections.

The 33-party front headed by the CPN-Maoist has been going against the elections even shutting down the Kathmandu Valley yesterday in protest. They want the current government to go and form a next government of all political parties. However, leaders of the four-party political mechanism have been saying that an all-party government has been impossible that is why they have agreed on the current government.
