Changing System Not Regime

Issue 23, June 05, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

June 3, 2011: Indian yoga guru Ramdev has told the reporters that he will start the fasting in New Delhi, India on Saturday, June 04, 2011 demanding to change the corrupt system of administration into a better administration if needed be until his death. This yoga guru has created not ripples but waves to the Indian administration and to the ruling politicians.

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has sent his Minister for Finance Pranav Mukheerje and Minister for Human Resource Kapil Dev to persuade the yoga guru withdrawing his program on fasting but they obviously could not convince him and have returned empty handed.

India has been plagued with corruption. Anybody seeking services from the state administration needs to bribe the state employees at every level of administration for getting the services the administration is supposed to provide following the rule.

Indian politicians and state employees have been enjoying taking bribe with impunity because of the not transparent administration. However, two years ago, the Indian parliament has passed a transparency bill that requires the state employees to provide the reason for not providing the services without delay. Once this bill has passed into a law, corruption cases have been exposed fast. Following the law, anybody could demand the reason for not getting the services applying to the concerned official with a ten-rupee fee. The official requires replaying to any such letters within a week.
