February 26, 2012: recording his height at 54.6 centimeters (21.5 inches), the Guinness World Records officials today have certified seventy-two years old Chandra Bahadur Dangi from Dang district of Nepal as the world's shortest man. Khagendra Thapa Magar measured at over 66.04 centimeters (26 inches) in 2010 had been another short Nepalese man but the Filipino named Junrey Balawing at 59.69 centimeters (23.5 inches) took away the title of shortest man from Khagendra Thapa Magar. Now, another Nepalese man called Chandra Bahadur Dangi won the title back.
Dangi weighs 12 kilograms (26.5 pounds). He is from western Nepal. Recently, a logger went to his village to cut some trees and found Dangi so short. He brought the possibility of Dangi being a shortest man to the notice of some Nepalese officials. Thus, Dangi ultimately came to the notice of the officials of the Guinness World Records.
Dangi spent most of his seventy-two-year life in his village never going out of the village. He lived with other family members. Most of the time took care of buffalos although he could not physically leash the buffalos. He needed help from other members of family to leash and unleash buffalos.
Dangi might help in promoting the tourism industry of Nepal. Tourism entrepreneurs could put him in various ads luring tourists to Nepal.
