Forming A New Government

January 29, 2011: at the meeting of the standing committee of the party held on January 28, 2011, leaders of the UCPN-Maoist have decided to reject the demand of the leaders of NC and CPN-UML for the Maoists setting a credible framework for completing the peace process and the constitution writing, and a clear modality of the army integration for their support for forming the consensus government led by the UCPN-Maoist leaders; in addition, the NC and CPN-UML leaders have also been demanding for the Maoists setting the number of the Maoist army personnel to be integrated into the state security forces, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of January 29, 2011 writes.
"The meeting concluded that it is essential that the consensus government is formed under the leadership of the largest party to ensure the completion of the peace process and the constitution writing," spokesperson for the UCPN-Maoist Dinanath Sharma told the reporters after the meeting. He has also said that his party will not form a government with the preconditions set by other parties but is committed to complete the peace process and the constitution writing.
At the same time, speaking at the press conference held by the Press Chautari in Hetauda, secretary of CPN-UML Yuba Raj Gyawali has said that his party has not claimed for leading a new government; anybody guarantying the completion of the peace process and the constitution writing can lead a new government. The CPN-UML has made a decision on accepting the UCPN-Maoist-led government only if it presents the total formula of the management of People’s Liberation Army.
Meanwhile, speaking at the inauguration of the eighth anniversary of Nepal Health Technicians Association in Pokhara of the Kaski district, Chairman of Constituent Assembly Subash Nemwang has said that political parties will build a consensus on forming a new government following the earlier peace agreements by February 07, and after forming the new government, the constitution writing and peace process will go ahead; however, the constitution writing and formation of a new government will not be possible without the political leaders working on the consensus politics.
