By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
April 19, 2010: the state-run newspaper ‘Gorkhapatra’ of April 19, 2010 has the news that a group of army men of the battalion of the Nepal Army stationed at Chhauni in Kathmandu has blockaded the office of the Sub-department of Metropolitan Police at Lainchaur in Kathmandu on Sunday morning, April 18, 2010 for about five minutes even blocking the traffic; a group of about 100 army men going for a morning walk has chanted a slogan ‘Police thief’ and a man called Rajesh Vikram Shahi claiming to be a ranger has even threatened by SMS message to shoot Police Inspector Rugam Bahadur Kunwar.
On April 8, 2010, the police has arrested the major, captain and some other officers of the battalion of the Nepal Army for getting drunk at Thamel in Kathmandu and turned them over to the Army Police, so they have come to intimidate the police the ‘Gorkhapatra’ quoted Police Sub-inspector Dambar Thapa.
Defense Minister Bidhya Bhandari of the Madhav government has not been able to discipline the Nepal Army men; she has been letting the Nepal Army men to perpetuate the killing of innocent Nepalis with impunity and this time to intimidate even the Nepal Police for their sincere duty done on stopping Nepal Army miscreants. Madam Bhandari has shown her incompetence and needs to quit her job immediately if not Prime Minster Madhav Nepal needs to fire her immediately otherwise Prime Minister Madhav Nepal himself will be incompetent and needs to quit his job immediately.
Defense Minister and her boss Prime Minister Madhav Nepal had promoted a man indicted for disappearance of 49 people to the second-in-command of the Nepal Army and had done nothing against the major wanted by the Kavre court for killing a minor; consequently, the anarchism has increased among the Nepal Army men considerably. Such anarchism in the Nepal Army is the result of Prime Minister Madhav Nepal not working on following the rule of law.
