Charges And Counter Charges In Closed-door Session Of UCPN-Maoist

February 6, 2013: presenting his views in the closed-door session of the ongoing Seventh General Convention of the UCPN-Maoist in Hetauda yesterday, Vice-chairman of UCPN-Maoist Narayan Kaji Shrestha has urged the party leadership to make the party's nationalism views clear; the party would get into problem if the general convention failed to formulate a clear policy on nationalism. He said the party should decide whether the Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (BIPPA) with India including other issues were right or wrong, according to the news posted on the gorkhapatraonline.com of today.

Answering the questions of the participants in the closed-door session in the seventh general convention of the UCPN-Maoist in Hetauda, Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai defended the Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (BIPPA) with India, saying that it would help attract investment in the country, and BIPPA would not invite the foreign interferences in the business of Nepal, according to the nepalnews.com of today.

Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda admitted that he was prone to the Stalin style weakness. Chairman Prachanda said, “We are all prone to Stalin’s weakness (sic)…the tendency to immediately suspect someone holding a different viewpoint. I have now come to realize that I am also susceptible to the same weakness,” according to Nepalnews.com.
