Setting Date For Provincial and Federal Elections

Kathmandu: the government has set November 26. 2017 as the date for the provincial and federal elections that will directly elect 135 representatives to the federal House of Representatives, and 330 provincial houses of representatives, and indirectly 110 to the federal house and 220 to the provincial houses, the news in “gorkhapatra” of today stated.
One ballot paper will be for the direct elections to the provincial houses, and the federal house, another for the indirect elections to the provincial houses and the federal house. Thus, voters will have two ballot papers but they have to put stamps on two candidates on one ballot paper: one for a provincial and another for a federal, and on another: one for the party candidate for the provincial house, and another for the federal. It will save paper and money for the government.
Elections to the Rastriya Sabha will be held later. It is a permanent body. Every member will have a six-year term but for the first time, term of the 49 members will be decided by lottery who will served for a two-year term, four-year and six-year.
