Expansion Of Cabinet In Limbo

Issue 36, September 4, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

September 2, 2011: even after five days of the formation of a new cabinet, Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has not been able to add any new members to his cabinet either from his own party or the UDMF that has made him a new prime minister.

Obviously, some of the Madheshi leaders have been determined to cash in the current fluid political situation and grab the office of Deputy Prime Minister to pave the future political career. Other sincere Madheshi politicians advised such ambitious politicians to be flexible and make the completion of the peace process and the constitution writing their ambition rather than personnel ones.

Maoists are not much different from leaders of other political parties although Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has pretended to be a different one taking some immediate visible measures. So, the UCPN-Maoist also has not been able to second its members to the cabinet of Dr. Bhattarai.

So, it is most unlikely that the NC leaders would join in the cabinet of Dr. Bhattarai, as what ministerial portfolios will remain with Dr. Bhattarai after meeting the need of his party and of the UDMF.
