Medics Flee from Health Camps
By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
The state-run newspaper ‘Gorkhapatra’ of July 31, 2009 has the news about medics who have been working for saving the lives of patients suffering from diarrhea, have fled from the health camps set up in the villages of the Jajarkot district after one of them contracted diarrhea and other have high fever; the number of people dying from diarrhea has continued to rise. Patients brought from the distance of one-day walk to the health campus have been disappointed after finding none of the medics working there.
However, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has claimed that the diarrhea epidemic has come under control. So, the Madhav administration has been clearly out of touch with the grassroots level health workers and has fed the Prime Minister wrong information about the situation of the diarrhea epidemic.
