Indigenous People Shut Down Nepal

On January 1, 2010, Indigenous People Mega Front has called a Neal shutdown protesting against not including their concerns even in the draft prepared by the subject matter committees and demanding the enforcement of UN declaration on indigenus people, ILO 169, political representation, decision-making, educational and economic opportunities for all indigenous Nepalis.
On the eve of the Nepal shutdown, indigenous People Mega Front held a torch march from Tundikhel to Maitighar in Kathmandu, and held a rally there. Krishna Bahadur Bhattachan, Suresh Ale Magar and Laxman Tharu led the torch march.
