October 2, 2013: the Federation of Nepal Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) yesterday has urged the government to give priority to the production-based economy than to the revenue-oriented and remittance-based economy, according to the news posted on the ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’.
At the interaction event held by the Society of Economic Journalists (SEJON), the FNCCI officials stressed the need for creating an investment-friendly environment in the country to turn the remittance-based economy into the manufacturing economy.
Remittance and revenue alone cannot sustain the country's economy and the government should build an environment conducive to the increased investments in the productive sectors, said Bhaskar Raj Rajkarnikar senior vice president of FNCCI.
Senior vice president of FNCCI Rajkarnikar has demanded that the political parties make provision for their common program on the economic development in their manifestos. He stressed that all the political parties should have a common agenda for the economic development though they have different political ideologies.
Another Vice President of FNCCI Pashupati Murarka said that the industry sector was on the verge of collapse due to the extortion and donation terror unleashed by various political parties and organizations.
