Prime Minister’s Address To Nation

April 12, 2012: after turning over the management of the Maoist cantonments to the Nepal army, Prime Minster Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has addressed to the nation today evening live on TV. Speaking to the Nepalis, Prime Minister Bhattarai has said that the peace process has reached the point of no return, and would complete the constitution writing within the deadline, and has urged all stakeholders work sincerely to bring the noble tasks of completing the peace process and the constitution writing to completion; a new constitution would be the inclusive one that will be the tool for ending the poverty of the people and taking Nepal to a new height of prosperity.

Concerning the army, the prime minister has said that the situation of the two armies in the country has come to an end; both the PLAs and Nepal Army has been a single army and urged them to move forward in a disciplined manner.

Concerning a consensus government, the prime minister has said that he has been for a consensus government despite he being the prime minister of the majority government, and urged all concerned to support him for forming such a consensus government.

The prime minister has promised to end the unemployment ensuring at least 100 days of employment to all Nepalis a year, and provide the poor with relief. He has disclosed that the government is enacting a Land Act following the report of the Land Reforms Commission to end the woes of the tillers. He also promised to enforce the four-point deal his party has reached with the UDMF following a new inclusive bill and address the Muslim demands following the report of the Muslim Commission.
