By KTM Metro Reporter

February 26, 2013: After the acceptance statement from the Supreme Court of Nepal for leading a new government by the serving Chief Justice, the leaders of the top four-power-player parties have been in dilemma whether to move forward right away to amend the Interim Constitution or wait for the ruling of the supreme Court of Nepal on the writ filed against the formation of a government under the Chief Justice.

The CPN-UML has called a Standing Committee meeting to discuss what steps they needed to take after the Chief Justice accepted the offer of leading a new government for holding elections to a new CA. Some of the senior CPN-UML leaders have been objecting to such a government, and demanding the Chief Justice quitting the office of the Chief Justice before taking the office of the prime minister.

Nepal Bar Association has objected to the Supreme Court’s statement on Monday, February 25, 2013 accepting a new election government under the Chief Justice Khila Raj Regmi. Talking briefly to a local television channel, NBA Vice Chairman Tikaram Bhattarai said that the NBA would never compromise on the independence of judiciary. “We have called on an emergency meeting with NBA representatives, juries and legal experts tomorrow afternoon and we will react to the SC’s nod formally,” Bhattarai told the Avenues Television yesterday evening, according to THT ONLINE, February 25, 2013.

The CPN-Maoist headed by Chairman Mohan Vaidhaya said that its cadres would go to each and every house in all the municipalities of Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, and Kathmandu to knock on the door for creating the awareness of danger of forming a new government under the Chief Justice. They had held a similar event in 1996 before launching the decade-long people’s liberation war, according to the ‘gorkhapatra’ news of today.
