By KTM Metro Reporter

April 1, 2011: speaking at the journalism-award-distributing function on the occasion of the anniversary of‘ the Reporters’ Club Nepal at Pragya Bhavan in Kathmandu, Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal has said that the seven-point deal he has reached with the UCPN-Maoist is not for isolating Nepali Congress (NC) from the peace process and constitution crafting, according to ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today.

At the same function, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda has said that lots of works have been done on the peace process and constitution making; both the tasks will complete in two months means by the time the term of the Constituent Assembly expires.

The Constitutional Committee (CC) meeting of the Constituent Assembly held on Thursday could not settle the concerns of the marginalized groups, dalits, and ethnic and indigenous people for their rights in a new constitution to be crafted soon. The CC is assigned to prepare a draft of a new constitution.

The Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of NC held on Thursday has decided to ask the government the reasons for secretary to finance ministry Rameswor Khanal’s resignation. The meeting also has resolved that the NC will stand against the financial corruption and play the role in completing the peace process and constitution crafting. However, just to remind all, some of the former NC ministers implicated in the financial corruption are still sitting on the CWC. One of them Mr. Chiranjivi Wagle has gone to jail for serving five-year-jail term for stealing the state money while he was a minister in the past.

The Standing Committee meeting of UCPN-Maoist held on Thursday has decided to ask the government for submitting a complementary budget for the fiscal year 2011.
